Hidden Treasure: Philosophy Antiques – Matching the perfect piece with its owner

Intricate wood carvings, sparkling chandeliers, rock crystal pieces, Black Amoor Venetian statues from a Czech castle hand-painted with gold leaf …

A passion for antiques, that’s what Nina Naderchi, proprietor of Philosophy Antiques, embraces daily. With a background in interior design, she grew up with antiques and has been in the business for more than 20 years. She worked at the prestigious Steven-Thomas Antiques & Interiors beginning in 1998 for 12 years.

“While at Steven-Thomas, I loved re-designing kitchens with antiques,” Naderchi recalls. “I can create and re-design antiques for any purpose and into any piece the client wants. Antiques are so versatile, and I think using them is the best way to be green and organic.”

She recently opened Philosophy Antiques on Newport Boulevard, specializing in 16th century to early 20th century pieces from Italy, Spain and France, many which came from European castles and churches.

“I really want to help educate people about the fact that antiques are quality pieces, made with dedicated craftsmanship. They can be enjoyed as well as functional in any room in the house,” shared Naderchi, who travels around the world to acquire unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.

“My goal is to truly send every piece to the right home,” she said. “I believe I am the agent for antiques … they find their owner.”

In addition to finding the perfect residences for her pieces, Naderchi leases pieces to movie sets and social events. “I personally transport them. I can set up the entire room.” Three of her pieces appeared in the film, “Angels & Demons.”

“You have to take care of antiques. They’ve been around longer than you and me and will endure beyond us. are keepers of these pieces.” Naderchi said.

She will be holding her grand opening on September 9.
